Happy New Year 2021 !!

明けましておめでとうございます。Happy New Year!
さて、調布フリーフライトトーストマスターズクラブ、2021年最初の例会は、、、、あいにくの「非常事態宣言」により急遽オンラインのみの開催となりました！

Due to the State of Emergency declaration, the first meeting of the year 2021 of Chofu Free Flight Toastmasters Club was held fully online!

本日、嬉しいことに、Sさんが新規入会されました！そして、いきなりのIce Breakスピーチ。物怖じすることなく堂々たるスピーチでした。

To our delight, Mr. S joined our club today! He gave an impressive Ice Break speech. I was so surprised that he seemed to be confident even though it was his first speech.

もう一本の準備スピーチ、Yさんのテーマは「unsung hero」。コロナ禍の中で闘っているのは、医療関係者だけではない。生活必需品を売っているスーパー、物流を担っているドライバー、ごみ収集の方たち、、、。そうした名もなきunsung heroesの支えによって、我々の今の生活が成り立っていることをCOVID-19が浮き彫りにした、という内容でした。

The theme of the second prepared speech by Mr. Y was "Unsung Hero." It is not only medical staffs who are fighting against this COVID-19 disaster, but also people in the supermarkets selling daily necessities, drivers who are in charge of logistics, garbage collectors, and so on. COVID-19 came to light the fact that our daily lives are made possible by a lot of supports of such nameless unsung heroes.

本日は特別にPathwaysワークショップも実施し、盛りだくさんの充実した例会でした。

We also had a special Pathways workshop today. It was a very productive meeting.

しばらく「自粛ムード」が続きますが、気持ちをポジティブに切り替えて、今年も盛り上がっていきましょう！The need for strict self-discipline may continue for a while, but let's switch our mindset to a positive one, and get excited about the year ahead!
