Successful online meeting despite some hiccups

The Chofu Free Flight Toastmasters Club’s 295th meeting experienced a couple of minor accidents but turned into a warm online gathering that everyone enjoyed.

With a typhoon approaching to Tokyo and increasing Covid numbers, most members decided to participate the meeting that was originally planned hybrid. As the Toastmaster of the Day, Mr. Y, learned that he was the only one at the venue, he decided to return home. The meeting instantly turned into an online gathering and Ms. M took over the role.

During the intermission, Mr. H, who always attends from Canada, fell asleep thus we lost our grammarian/ah counter in the middle of meeting. As we could tell he was asleep from the top of his feet shown on screen, we appreciated his constant effort to attend our meetings despite the big time difference. Our meeting scheduled at 2pm on Saturday, Tokyo time, is Friday 11pm where he lives. He made his grammarian and ah counter report on next day.

A total of 8 members and a guest from Singapore attended the meeting and enjoyed 5 table topic speeches and 2 prepared speeches. Table topics’ theme was summer and we shared the best summer vacation and ghost stories. Mr. K and Mr. D made prepared speeches in English.
