第285回 例会報告 285th regular meeting report

部屋のセッティングが遅れたこともあり、14:08にスタートしました。

職務には報告する責任があるとして、全員に役割分担を周知した。

全員がウォームアップ活動に参加する機会を得た。

全員がテーブルトピックのスピーチを行いました。

その後、エリアB英語ユーモアコンテストに参加し、2つのスピーチを見ました。

帰ってきてから、観察したユーモアの要素について、またそのテクニックを自分のスピーチにどう取り入れるかについて話し合いました。

この日の言葉は、トーストマスター Oが提案した「unquenchable」でした。この言葉を使うのは、私たちにとって難しいことでした。今後は、その単語の定義、品詞、例文を英語と日本語の両方で提示し、今日の単語を使用する際の文脈を提供するのがよいのではないでしょうか。

We started at 14:08 due to some delays in getting the room set up.

Everyone was made aware of the roles as the duties had a responsibility to report.

Everyone had an opportunity to participate in the warm-up activity.

Everyone gave a table topic speech.

We then joined the Area B English Humor Contest and watched two speeches.

On return, we discussed the elements of humor we observed and how we could incorporate some of those techniques into our own speeches.

Our word of the day was “unquenchable” as suggested by Toastmaster O. It was difficult for us to use this word. In the future, it would be a good idea to give the definition, part of speech and sample sentences both in English and Japanese to provide context for using the word of the day.

Our meeting was adjourned at 16:00
